Meet Don – the founder and owner of Bracken Engineering, Inc. (BEI)

Don has a diverse and extensive background in the industry, working as a civil engineer, a project engineer, and a partner in various firms. He has been involved in small to large projects, from residential septic repairs to commercial site developments. He has the unique advantage of having both field and office experience, which allows him to understand the needs of his clients and deliver quality solutions. He has also acquired several professional registrations and certifications, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to excellence.

Don enjoys the local New England culture, nature, and lifestyle. He has been active in the community, serving on various boards and committees, coaching youth sports, and participating in several organizations. He likes to spend his free time on building projects, hiking, swimming, and cheering for the Celtics.

Zachary Basinski

PE, CFM – Director of Operations

Meet Zac – he has a wealth of experience in site development projects, ranging from residential septic repairs to large-scale commercial developments. He manages projects from start to finish, ensuring smooth coordination, quality design, and timely permitting. He designs projects to adapt to the impacts of climate change and sea-level rise. He strives to create solutions that meet the current and future needs of his clients and the environment. He is always up for a challenge and a learning opportunity.

When Zac is not busy with engineering, he enjoys spending time with his three amazing children, hiking in nature, or relaxing at the beach. He is also an active volunteer in the scouting community, serving as a committee chair and an assistant scoutmaster.

Ryan Maxwell

Project Manager

Education: Bachelor of Science in Project Management (2017)– Wentworth Institute of Technology

Experience: 20+ years in the civil engineering and surveying field, 15+ years as a Project Manager and Engineer

Certification(s): Title 5 Soil Evaluator (Massachusetts) – 2022, Title 5 System Inspector (Massachusetts) – 2014

Meet Ryan – he manages projects from their initial design stages, through permitting and presentations with state and local governments, and then overseeing the final construction build-out. Ryan is proficient in the latest industry software, such as Autodesk Civil3D and HydroCAD, which he uses throughout his projects to create innovative solutions for site design and stormwater management.

Ryan has spent time at Horseneck Beach in Westport every summer since he was a young child. Now he has the pleasure of bringing his children there.

Robert E. Dewar

EIT – Project Manager

Experience: 10+ years in the civil engineering and surveying field

Meet Rob – he is a civil engineer and surveyor with years of experience in the design, permitting, and construction of projects ranging from residential septic repairs to commercial developments. As an engineer, Rob spends his time split between the field and his desk. In the field he performs soil evaluations, percolation tests, and construction monitoring. Behind his desk he provides site designs utilizing the latest technology and techniques for site design and drainage analysis. As a Project Manager, his commitment to excellence ensures that the needs of his clients are met efficiently and effectively.

Rob is an avid fisherman. If you are out early in the morning you have probably seen him trying to catch local fish on the canal or in his kayak!

Jason P. Heyer

CFM – Project Manager

Experience: 5+ years at Bracken Engineering, Inc.

Meet Jason – he offers his expertise to a diverse range of clients, both private and public, delivering surveys and designs that meet their needs and expectations. He is proficient in the latest industry software, including Autodesk Civil3D, drone data processing software, LiDAR analysis, and photogrammetric mapping to produce accurate, high-quality survey and design data.

Jason likes to spend his free time with his dog Moose, exploring the acres of cranberry bogs and woods near his home.

Lucas Amato

Sewage Disposal System Project Manager

Experience: 4+ years as Assistant Health Agent in Chatham, 3+ years as Independent Contractor

Meet Lucas- He is skilled, committed, and focused on on-site wastewater treatment design, inspection, and compliance for both residential and commercial projects. Lucas brings a strong foundation in public health and environmental protection, applying his expertise to ensure every system is designed to function efficiently while safeguarding groundwater and community health. At Bracken Engineering, he collaborates with engineers, contractors and local health officials to deliver efficient, code compliant wastewater solutions.

Outside of work Lucas enjoys fishing, woodworking and exploring the outdoors.

Earl Chartier III

Project Technician III

Education: Bachelor of Science Computer Science (2004) – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth

Experience: 26+ years in the Civil Engineering and Surveying industry, 9+ years at Bracken Engineering, Inc.

Meet Earl – he has a wide range of professional expertise in the design and drafting of comprehensive site plans, encompassing Sewer permit and Sewer Extension plans, Sewage Disposal Plans, pre- and post-development drainage analysis and design, and Aerial Topography and Mapping. He uses the latest technology and software to create innovative and quality solutions for his clients.

Earl enjoys the local New England culture, nature, and lifestyle. He likes to spend his free time outdoors, cycling and fishing.

Alan M. Grady

Meet Alan – he has a comprehensive and diverse experience in land surveying. Covering various aspects such as title research, property line determinations, Land Court surveys, calculations, plan submissions, subdivision plans, perimeter plans, construction control and layout, review and certification for building, site as-builts, and ALTA plans. He has worked on projects of different scales and complexities, from residential lots to commercial developments. He uses the latest technology and equipment to ensure the highest quality and efficiency of his work.

In his spare time, Alan enjoys the local New England culture, activities, and spending time with his family.

David A. French, Jr.

PLS – Professional Land Surveyor

Meet David – he has a broad and diverse background in the industry, gaining experience as a field crew chief, a CAD manager, and a Project Manager in various firms. He has managed projects of different scopes and complexities, from residential property development to commercial construction layout.

David lives his best Cape Cod life to the fullest. He likes to spend his free time outdoors with his family and friends.

Jason Calvert

Survey Technician III

Experience: 20+ years in the survey profession

Meet Jason – he has adept experience in land surveying, with a broad expertise spanning various disciplines. He’s developed and applied diverse surveying methodologies to various types, such as large subdivisions, Land Court, ALTA, and construction survey services. He has spearheaded projects of varying sizes and complexities, from small residential builds to large commercial developments across Massachusetts.

Jason enjoys spending his free time with his wonderful wife, two children, and fur babies, or appreciating the art of smoking meat.

Sean Fish

Survey Technician II

Meet Sean – he is one our land surveyors and has 5+ years at BEI. He brings leadership and professionalism to the crew. He handles all types of surveys, such as land courts, bathymetric, construction layout, and is our NPDES CGP stormwater site inspector. He is dedicated to advancing his education in land surveying at Franklin Cummings Tech.

In his free time, Sean spends quality time with his amazing wife and 2 children, enjoying activities such as kayaking, fishing and biking.

Rich Burton

Survey Technician I

Meet Rich – he supports the surveying and engineering teams by collecting accurate field data essential to the success of each project. With experience in boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys, he uses advanced GPS and total station equipment to ensure precise measurements and dependable results. Rich is dedicated to maintaining efficiency and accuracy in the field, contributing to high-quality deliverables that support the firm’s engineering and design efforts.

In his free time Rich enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter.

Kevin Colameco

Survey Technician I

Meet Kevin – he is one of our land surveyors and has been with Bracken Engineering for 5 years. He brings a high level of professionalism and skillset to the various types of survey projects we conduct. Kevin is proficient with the equipment used in the field such as our total stations, GPS units, and more.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys playing basketball, watching Boston sports, and spending quality time with his family and friends.

Jaymz Williamson

Survey Technician I

Meet Jaymz – he assists the surveying team with data collection and field operations for a variety of civil engineering projects. Eager to continue learning and developing technical skills, he supports boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys using GPS and total station equipment. Jaymz brings a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for fieldwork that help ensure each project is completed accurately and efficiently.

In his free time, Jaymz likes to play games with his friends.

PERMITTING

Penni L. Pomeroy

Permitting Technician

Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (1985) – University of Vermont

Experience: 10+ years in permitting, with almost 10 years at Bracken Engineering, Inc.

Certification(s): Notary Public (Massachusetts)

Meet Penni – she provides technical support for the office by preparing applications and reports for the numerous permitting offices within the municipalities that BEI serves. She is involved in various tasks, such as project and title research, preparing and proofreading permitting submissions and plans, and maintaining current information regarding town submission deadlines and permitting requirements.

Penni likes to spend her free time with her wonderful family and relaxing outdoors during the summer months.

ADMINISTRATION

Kristyn Connolly

MBA – Business Manager

Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Management (2006) – Bridgewater State University; Master of Business Administration (2018) – Suffolk University

Experience: 15+ years in Finance

Meet Kristyn – she plays a key role in overseeing the firm’s daily operations and long-term growth initiatives. With a focus on efficiency, collaboration, and client satisfaction, Kristyn manages a broad range of responsibilities that keep the company running smoothly — including new project requests, proposal development, safety coordination, hiring, and process improvement. She works closely with both leadership and technical teams to ensure projects are initiated, organized, and executed successfully. From streamlining internal workflows to strengthening communication across departments, Kristyn is dedicated to fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

She likes to spend her free time baking, crafting, or watching Boston sports. You’ll also find her spending quality time with her husband, son, and two fur babies.

Tina Yule

Office Manager

Experience: 25+ years in bookkeeping, 15+ years in the construction/engineering industry, 11+ years at Bracken Engineering, Inc.

Certification(s): Notary Public (Massachusetts)

Meet Tina – she is at the heart of our operations, handling the myriad of tasks that come with her role. This includes managing all BEI’s finances, bookkeeping, and administrative duties. Tina is the first point of contact for our valued clients, answering their inquiries, calls, and visits with grace and efficiency. She is committed to client satisfaction and is always ready to assist and support both our clients and our colleagues.

Tina likes to spend her free time with her dog Ginger, her husband, and her grandkids. You might find Tina on her mat practicing yoga, in the woods and beaches walking Ginger, or down enjoying Key West.
